Pan Frontrunners run out of it

Christian Lybecker has participated in Copenhagen Frontrunners' introductory class and most recently completed the Running School, an offer for beginners who want to learn to run with others.

In May, approximately 16 new aspiring runners started Copenhagen Frontrunners' introductory course, the Running School. The group included Christian Lybecker and 3 of his friends.

"The first day it was packed and we had a hard time finding the club. But then Claus was there and we were so warmly welcomed!"

The running school is an initiative where they work on a good welcome and a good introduction to the training. It lasts 10 weeks, and the focus is on technique, a good warm-up, play and having everyone involved. At the same time, the club has decided to involve a welcome guide, Claus Højlund, who organizes all the many things around the training itself.

"The first time, Claus used the time while we were warming up to talk about the 10 weeks of the course. We got a picture of what his and the coach's roles were, and how the club functioned. It was just a really good way to align expectations and make a joint introduction. Everything started quietly, with games and exercises so that everyone could join in," says Christian Lybecker.

10 weeks – and then what?

During the 10 weeks of the Running School, Christian Lybecker has largely gained the feeling that he is part of a club:

"There's just a focus on the good, social community. You pick up the others who are running at the back, we speak English when there are foreigners, we have a Facebook group where we are in contact, and we have various social events. It's just nice to have one Tuesday a week where we get to run together!"

At the end of the Running School, the chairman of Copenhagen Frontrunners participated. Here, the group ran 5 km together, and during the run, the participants were introduced to the other teams in the club, which they could sign up for after the Running School was finished. The team also met with the club's Green Team, the natural step after the Running School, so that the participants could ask questions.

"I actually didn't think that was what I wanted, but I really like running in a club now. So I'll definitely continue on one of the teams. They're just really good at organizing! Not least in terms of having Claus as an introductory guide, it was super good," concludes Christian Lybecker.
