The recently launched Pan Gaming has had a flying start, and after just three weeks there is already a huge demand to play. The many happy gamers flock to Pan Gaming's discord server, and it is no coincidence according to Christian Bigom, chairman of Pan Idræt and leader of Pan Gaming:
"The cool thing about E-sports is that you can meet across municipalities and national borders. At the same time, E-sports can perhaps help bring participants who are not used to classic sports into the association community."
E-sports and gaming are in many ways facility-independent. It can take place at home in the living room online, and there may therefore be huge potential in people being able to meet across municipalities and national borders. In the Pan Gaming community, you can join from home and immerse yourself in the world of games with other like-minded people. Here you can game in a positive environment, where a good tone is maintained, and where games and community are at the center.
"The idea behind Pan Gaming is to create an online universe where Pan Idræt can help create spaces that are free from the incredibly negative and unpleasant language that takes place, not only on the football field, but certainly also in chat and gaming rooms."
Concrete and structured initiatives have been taken to create a safe space online. Guidelines are in place, and they have even been inspired by similar initiatives from England.
“One of our guidelines is that we do not tolerate hate speech and do not want to hear derogatory speech about other players. The guidelines have been drawn from our daily work with inclusion and diversity in Pan Idræt, and we have looked to the London Gaymers group for inspiration and the way they structure their community around a set of clear guidelines,” continues Christian Bigom.
This is just the beginning, but there is no shortage of ambition at Pan Gaming. They dream of hosting LAN parties and other cool gaming events that can create great experiences for gamers – regardless of how they identify.
"We believe that the development potential is great for an online universe, but in the long term also for dedicated gaming teams with regular training and tournament potential. We dream that people can find each other online via Pan Gaming and together create great gaming experiences, maybe even meet for rainbow-colored LAN parties along the way," concludes Christian Bigom.
